Universities relaxation zones are more than just comfortable chairs and tables. They're spaces where individuals can meet, exchange ideas freely, and cultivate an open and creative mindset. Essential in any modern public building, these zones provide areas to relax, wait, or even check the mail.
hanczarstudio in its latest realization for the Lower Silesian University shows that educational spaces can be far from monotonous. Instead of white walls, gray floors and colorless tiles, the designers opted for intense, vibrant colors.
When working on the design of the relaxation zones in the Lower Silesian University building, designers from hanczarstudio had to take into account many constraints, such as the possibility of only adding new furniture or using existing wall coverings. The key turned out to be expressive colors, which gave each zone a unique character. The designers also decided to use recommended Chic lounge chairs, which are durable and suitable for public interiors.
"Each zone stands out not just because of its color but also its functionality. The monochromatic theme and consistent color palette for all furnishings in a particular zone intensify the feeling of being 'cut off' from the otherwise subdued architectural backdrop," comments Przemysław Słowik, co-author of the project.
Szymon Hanczar concludes, "I believe our design interventions have greatly enhanced the student experience within the university building. We've added an aesthetic value that particularly resonates with the younger generation."
