New sitting idea – the implementation of an innovative chair production technology
|
The New sitting idea – the implementation of an innovative chair production technology project was pursued by the Company under Measure 4.4 New investments of high innovative potential of the Innovative Economy Operational Programme 2007-2013. The total eligible expenditure amounted to 31,235,028.61 PLN, including a financial support of 12,494,011.44 PLN, which was provided as a refund of the incurred costs and equalled 40% of the total eligible costs. The funds obtained were used to expand the existing manufacturing facility, including the construction of a modern storehouse equipped with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) automatic identification system and voice direction technology, and to purchase 158 machines and devices.
Owing to the purchases and the implementation of modern technologies, it was possible to launch the production of seven new chair models, the most noteworthy of which is mPosition - an integrated computer workstation for working in a sitting-lying position. Behind this chair, which is covered by a patent application, stands a comprehensive and interdisciplinary expertise of designers, engineers, technologists, physiotherapists and ergonomics specialists. When considering the burden on the intervertebral discs, upright position is the most advantageous for humans. In comparison to other positions for a sedentary work, a half-sitting position with 135 degrees angle between the spine and the thigh bones line proves to be optimal. The position enabled by the mPosition chair, with the body inclined back and the legs outstretched in the front and slightly bent, promotes a full and long-term concentration during work or entertainment. The innovative solution developed under the project includes the design of the backrest and the seat, and the selection of cushioning materials so that the pressure on the user's body is optimal and does not exceed 32 mm Hg.
The project was implemented between July 2008 and the end of May 2011. |
