PROFIRMA 2008 IN OSSA

It has already become a tradition that every two years we invite our best customers to join us for a fun-filled meeting. This year’s PROFIRMA, our regular integration and training session, was held in Ossa, a small picturesque village located a couple of kilometres from Rawa Mazowiecka, on 13-14 June.

This year’s edition of PROFIRMA was a truly unique experience. the event was organised in a style associated with the times of the communist Polish People’s Republic. White shirts, red ties, smiling faces and cheerful songs, hearts filled with the spirit of work and enjoyment, flags in hands... All our guests were happily carried away by the wind of history, assuming the roles of “Model Workers of the PROFIm Collective” - all with a pinch of salt.

On 13 June at 2 p.m., Waldemar Obłoza, a well-known actor hosting the event, asked all participants to join in the fun by leading them to the symbolic “bridge to an even brighter future”. President Ryszard Rychlik cut the red ribbon, thus officially opening PROFIRMA 2008 under the leading theme of “General Convention of PROFIm Model Workers”. After the opening ceremony, all guests went up to the stage to the sounds of tunes that were hugely popular in the communist era. “Citizens! Citizenesses! Working people!” - with these words President Rychlik addressed those gathered and gave a speech summarising the Company’s recent operations.

PROFIRMA 2008 participants were in for a lot of surprises. First of all, they were free to participate in specially prepared themed sections focused on different professions performed by workers in the times of Polish People’s Republic. Guests had an opportunity to try their hand at and develop various master worker skills. In return, they were given money and special coupons. Cash collected in themed section activities and contests was then deposited. the participant (or group of participants) winning the highest amount in cash and coupons was awarded the title of “PROFIm Model Worker”. At the gala dinner held in the evening, winners were granted awards called “Teddy Bears Matching our Capabilities” referring to the mascot appearing in the cult film “Miś” (“Teddy Bear”) directed by Stanisław Bareja.

In the culture and education section, PROFImarians, under the guidance of a culture and education instructor, prepared flags, posters and banners for the 1 May Parade which finished the open-air part of the event. In the “Rainbow” Sports Club, competitors took part in a relay race. A variety of performance contests offered “PROFIm Model Workers” an opportunity to test their physical strength, agility and shrewdness. In the Transport Base, PROFIm’s top partners could choose between riding the tractor, participating in bicycle frame races and pushing the one-time popular fiat 126p city car. We also beat the record of the tiny car’s capacity. It managed to accommodate a total of 9 people! In the themed section called “May the walls go up high” participants had a chance to show their construction and masonry skills. Another part of the area was allocated to a People’s Army of Poland unit. PROFIm guests, playing the part of conscript soldiers, could demonstrate their accuracy of aim, sense of distance and swiftness, i.e. features that all true soldiers of the People’s Army of Poland were required to have. For women (though not only), organisers prepared a “Farmers’ Wives’ Club”. A real cow, goat, wash-board and churn helped to recreate the reality of one-time households. Other attributes reminiscent of the old communist days included: food coupons for orangeade, candy floss and other delicacies, and the unmistakable Baltona shop where you could buy “luxurious items and goods in short supply”. PROFImarians also had an opportunity to take part in a number of contests and quizzes conducted by Waldemar Obłoza. They enjoyed the performance given by Genowefa Pigwa and listened to a music band presenting a medley of evergreen songs written in the communist era. the open-air part of this year’s PROFIRMA culminated with 1 May Parade and a joint photograph of all “PROFIm Model Workers”.

A festive dinner held in the evening involved a ceremony of presenting not only awards but also birthday gifts. An informal “Model Workers’ Dance Party” which followed the dinner lasted until the early hours of the next day. Everyone had a whale of time. All the guests were happy to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of “times gone by”. See you at PROFIRMA next year!
